At Little Learners, building confidence is as important as building skills — and we believe the two go hand in hand. Our structured, instruction-based sessions are designed to explicitly guide children through new tasks and challenges, developing the problem-solving abilities and self-assurance that set them up to flourish both in the classroom and beyond.

At Little Learners, every session is purposefully designed to build the four key foundations of Prep success. Our structured instruction explicitly teaches:
Literacy — letter and sound recognition, early word work and writing readiness
Numeracy — counting, number recognition and pattern recognition
Fine Motor Skills — pencil grip, handwriting readiness and hands-on skill building
Social-Emotional Skills — confidence, communication and positive interactions with peers and adults
Each skill is taught deliberately and sequentially, so your child builds real capability and confidence with every session.

Interactive games, creative projects and group challenges aren't just fun — they are carefully structured to explicitly teach the literacy, numeracy and social skills your child needs to walk into Prep with confidence.

How the School Readiness Program Works
Enquire - send an email and Elicia or Sarah are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding classes and our program.
Secure your child’s spot - by booking through the website and complete a simple enquiry form. This helps us to understand your child’s strengths and areas for growth.
Orientation – A welcome letter will be sent out so you are your child know who your teacher is and what they need for their first day of their school readiness program.
Weekly Classes & Activities – Hands-on, play-based learning designed to build school-ready skills that is full of fun, colour and movement.
Communication - Join a closed WhatsApp group for your class where updates will be given after every class with videos and photos of what they got up to. A newsletter will also be sent regularly with upcoming events and information.
Progress & Feedback – teachers are happy to meet and have a chat regarding your children progress either before or after class. Informal assessments are made on the children during their session so we are able to cater to their developing knowledge and needs.

There is are 10 children in each class with two teachers.
What is covered in each session?

The school readiness program will provide explicit teaching on social and behavioural skills all expected in a classroom environment broken down into two areas of literacy and numeracy.
The main focus of the session will be literacy based focusing on:
• Early reading strategies
• Sound and letter recognition.
• Relative word recognition
• Fine motor control – pencil grip
• Letter formation and handwriting
I will also be introducing simple numeracy concepts such as:
• Counting
• Number recognition
• Simple math language such as big, small, up, down, more, less etc

With over 20 years of experience in early childhood education and a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood, I have dedicated my career to the growth and development of young minds. Inspired by my own children, aged 3 years and 10 months at the time, and fuelled by my love of working with Kindergarten-aged children, I founded Little Learners Ascot. Starting with just one student in August 2017, I have seen Little Learners grow into a thriving community.

Originally a high school Maths teacher, I discovered that after having children, I was drawn to the hands-on, playful side of teaching younger learners. Since beginning my journey with Little Learners in 2022, I’ve loved working with kindergarten-aged children — and now I’m thrilled to have opened my own branch in Kalinga!
