FAQ’s

  • The classes are held at 150 Kitchener Rd. The children will enter from the front of the building and walk through the bookshop to enter the learning space. The children will stay inside the learning space during the class.

  • Free trails aren’t offered at Little Learners Ascot due to the resources that are required to be made for each student before they start. If you find that after your first session that your child doesn’t want to continue an invoice will be sent for 1 class only. If you do wish to continue then an invoice will be sent for the remainder of the term.

  • For the lesson price of $66 (this is inclusive of GST) all resources and materials are included for each class. Such as all educational resources, craft materials, fine motor development resources and worksheets. The only thing your children will require for each class is a small snack and a water bottle in a back pack.

  • There is street parking available on Kitchener Rd. Parents are to see their children inside the building for their class and please wait for the children outside.

  • I don’t expect any of the children starting my classes to have any prior knowledge. During the first class I conduct an informal assessment so that I can target their abilities and needs affectively.

  • I would assess the situation and let the parent know via text, call or email to discuss the best form of action. The teachers’ aides and myself all have children and we have many years’ experience teaching this age group so we have many tricks to help sooth children that become upset. However, we will always be in contact with the parent to keep them up to date or any issues.

  • I will give you a link to an online enrolment forms on the first session you begin. The forms include student information and a permission for social media and photography of the children. It is very important to complete all of these forms and hand them back to me as soon as possible so that I have the relevant information such as mobile phone numbers to contact you if needed. I will then give you an Information pack after the first class that will include Terms and Conditions for you to read and sign.

  • If you miss a class due to illness, appointment or a holiday. We offer make up lessons during the school term. You are able to bring your child to any of the other classes in the timetable to make up the lesson missed. Absent lessons are not carried over to the next term or refundable.

  • In the event of an extended lockdown classes would move online and resource packs will be provided to your children to help keep them entertained and learning while at home. The online lessons would be 30 mins and full of movement and games.

  • The program will provide explicit teaching on social and behavioural skills all expected in a classroom environment broken down into two areas of literacy and numeracy.

    The main focus of the session will be literacy based focusing on:

    • Early reading strategies
    • Sound and letter recognition.
    • Relative word recognition
    • Fine motor control – pencil grip
    • Letter formation and handwriting

    I will also be introducing simple numeracy concepts such as:

    • Counting
    • Number recognition
    • Simple math language such as big, small, up, down, more, less etc

  • There is are 12 children in each class with two teachers.

  • School Readiness Sessions at Little Learners Ascot will help your child to be more confident in their ability and more willing to take risks with their learning. By exposing the children to Early Literacy and Numeracy concepts it will give the children a solid foundation to start Prep as well as skills to assist them right through their first few years of school. There is also a heavy fine motor and social and emotional development part to the program to help your child deal with problems in the playground as well as listening and following multiple instructions in the classroom. This program is designed to reach the individual child’s needs and abilities, and boost their confidence and knowledge from there.
